RoboChangers

The Shifting War Machines

In the depths of the Toyverse, long before the Army Men discovered the Real World, there existed an autonomous mechanical civilization: the RoboChangers. They were not simple robots, but toys with two natures, able to transform between a utilitarian form (vehicles, weapons, mechanical animals) and an anthropomorphic combat form.

Their origin is uncertain and steeped in legends. Some say they were created by a child-engineer from the Real World whose experiment escaped into the Toyverse; others believe they are remnants of an ancient military project involving toy tanks, fused with arcane technology from old wind-up toys.

Unlike the Army Men, the RoboChangers are not organized into a single unified army. They are now divided into two rival factions:

  • Transtechs: believe toys should protect the Toyverze and cooperate with the Army Men.
  • Gearlords: see all other toys as resources to be dismantled and absorbed.

Each transformation they perform is not merely mechanical, it consumes energy from their Core, a power source that degrades over time. This causes older RoboChangers to have slower, creakier, and sometimes irreversible transformations.

The Army Men have learned to both fear and respect these shifting machines: powerful allies on their best day, but unpredictable and sometimes dangerous when their agendas clash with Alliance High Command.
