The Modified

Also called Toyborgs or Cybertoys

They are a new faction of modified toys, but in their case they are technological modifications not out of necessity, but on purpose.

The Modified were once regular toys, but their paths diverged. Some were captured and forcibly transformed into cybernetic warriors, while others sought out these modifications voluntarily, inspired by the allure of enhanced abilities and power. These voluntary “mods” see the cybernetic enhancements as a way to transcend their original limitations.

Abilities

  • Hive Mind: They operate with a collective consciousness, making them highly coordinated and efficient in battle.
  • Cybernetic Enhancements: Enhanced strength, speed, and resilience. Some may have unique abilities like cloaking, hacking, or energy weapons.
  • Regeneration: Advanced self-repair systems that allow them to recover from damage quickly.
  • Real World Object Integration: They use everyday objects for their modifications, such as paperclips for joints, LED lights for eyes, and small batteries for power sources.

Appearance

  • Cyberpunk Aesthetic: Neon lights, glowing circuits, and sleek, futuristic designs.
  • Toyborg Features: Visible cybernetic implants, mechanical limbs, and a mix of organic and synthetic parts.
  • Insect-like Exo-Plating: Protective exoskeletons inspired by insects, providing additional armor and a unique visual style.
  • Weaponized Arms: One of their arms is often replaced with a weapon, such as an energy blade or plasma cannon.
  • Tactical Visors: One or both eyes are replaced with advanced tactical visors, enhancing their vision and targeting capabilities.

Units

  1. Overseer Omega: The primary Commander, equipped with advanced tactical systems and the ability to control multiple units simultaneously.
  2. Infiltrator Insect: A stealth unit with cloaking abilities and enhanced agility, perfect for espionage and sabotage.
  3. Repair Drone: A support unit with healing capabilities and the ability to deploy bots for field repairs.
  4. Mod Maverick: A voluntary recruit who sought out modifications to gain an edge in battle, equipped with a mix of scavenged and custom-built enhancements.
  5. Assimilation Drones: Small, insect-like robots that seek out and capture toys for conversion, equipped with plastrification tranquilizers and grappling hooks.

Integration into the Toyverse

  • Alliances and Rivalries: The Modified are generally seen as a threat by other factions due to their aggressive expansion and assimilation tactics. However, some may seek to ally with them for their technological advantages.
  • Missions and Objectives: Their primary goal is to assimilate other toys into their collective, expanding their hive mind and increasing their power. The voluntary mods often act as recruiters, convincing other toys to join willingly.
  • Technology Source: The origin of their cybernetic parts is shrouded in mystery. Rumors suggest a hidden factory or a rogue inventor responsible for their creation. They also scavenge and repurpose real-world objects for their enhancements.
It is worth noting that there are many similarities with the experiments carried out by Dr. Madd, so he may have had something to do with its evolution, or at least its work.

Visual Design

  • Color Scheme: Dark metallic tones with neon accents in colors like blue, green, and purple.
  • Textures: A mix of smooth, polished surfaces and rugged, battle-worn areas to show their combat experience.
  • Accessories: Unique weapons, gadgets, and armor pieces that highlight their cybernetic nature, such as energy blades, plasma rifles, and hacking tools.

Other Elements

Cybernetic Conversion Chambers: These are makeshift stations where toys undergo their transformations, using real-world objects like old radios, broken smartphones, and discarded electronics.

Resistance Fighters

A group of toys who have escaped or resisted assimilation, now fighting to free others from The Modified’s control.

Techno-Relics

Ancient, powerful artifacts from the Real World that The Modified seek to enhance their capabilities, such as rare earth magnets or high-capacity batteries.
