A Golden Age superheroine who invented web-shooter bracelets after criminals murdered her husband
Shannon was a young chemist assistant who became the wife of Dr. Harry Kane, a brilliant older chemist who worked for the US government. After her husband’s murder, Shannon began sorting his work papers. She found the formula for a spider‐web fluid which “sticks like glue—and it’s actually strong enough to swing on!” very similar to some of the other spider heroes.
Taking vengeance on her husband’s killers, she became the sworn enemy of all criminals–the Spider Queen.
She also found a potential love interest in detective Mike O’Bell, who was as interested in the young widow as he was in the costumed heroine.
Years passed. She was a villain at one time, returning to being a hero, and then becoming a villain again. She is currently one of the best known heroes today.
Powers and Abilities
The Spider Queen invented a set of bracelets to shoot out the web fluid (anticipating those of a more famous spider-themed hero), which she used in battle against criminals, along with her athletic skills. But she doesn’t have superpowers like her arachnid peers.
