Green Airborne Cavalry

Air cavalry is a military unit that uses helicopters instead of horses to perform traditional cavalry missions

The Green Army Airborne Cavalry

Reconnaissance, security, and rapid assault. Pioneered by the Humans U.S. Army in the 1960s, these units use “air mobility” to deploy troops and firepower swiftly across difficult terrain, bringing shock action to the battlefield.

Key Components of Air Cavalry:
  • Aeroscouts: Light observation helicopters (like the UH-1 “Huey”) that locate the enemy.
  • Aeroweapons: Gunship helicopters (like the AH-1 Cobra) providing armed escort and close air support.
  • Aerorifles: Infantry carried by transport helicopters (like the CH-47 “Chinook”) to secure landing zones and engage on the ground.
Key Characteristics:
  • Rapid Deployment: Air cavalry units are designed to move quickly, often flying over obstacles to surprise enemy forces, as famously utilized by the Human 1st Air Cavalry Division (Airmobile) in the Vietnam War.
  • “Hunter-Killer” Teams: A common tactic involves scout helicopters locating a target, followed immediately by heavy firepower from attack helicopters.
  • Versatility: Beyond combat, these units are used for aerial command and control, medical evacuation, and resupply.

The concept of air cavalry translates the traditional cavalry roles of speed, scouting, and shock effect into modern, three-dimensional warfare.
