An alternate story version of the Army Men events
Sarge, the Green Army veteran squad leader who’s a “shoot first, ask questions later” kind of soldier. Whether he was dodging bazooka shots, melting attacking infantry with his flame-thrower, or leading his squad into an enemy bunker, he does whatever it takes to bring down the evil Tan Army!
The war and animosity between Green and Tan is so old that no one really knows why or where it all began. More to the point, no one cares.
Tan and Green have adjusted their economies not only to meet the demands of prolonged war, but to thrive from it. Over the years, the war has stabilized to the extent that all sides can benefit from it with “acceptable” casualties.
But now things have changed. Strange unexplainable weapons have begun appearing within the Tan Army arsenal. Shiny objects that reflect the sun and burn a man at great distances have appeared.
The Green command is understandably upset. These devices seem to be under Tan control, and that threatens to tip the balance of power. Green command knows that this would certainly plunge them all into an uncertainty that no one wants. They call on Sarge.
The RW time is the early 20th century. In the Plastic World, the commander of a group called Tan has sworn to conquer all territory of the Green and claim them for his own. The Green are a group that is fighting to protect themselves from the growing Tan threat.
When the Tan invasion begins, the Green troops respond with weapons of the time. (grenades, rifles, mortars) However, the Green defense fails and the Tan pushes further into Green territory, conquering everything in it’s path.
General Plastro, dictator of the Tan Republic, has sworn to conquer the all the Free-Nations, and claim them for his own in his twisted vision of world domination, mobilizing the Republic’s war machine to this end. The Tan are a Real-World-Nazi-like group of megalomanical plastic tyrants bent on conquering the known Plastic World – and the Green Nation is one of the only roadblocks in their way, but the Tan’s territory covers most of the Green’s national borders, making it possible for the Tan to invade from all sides of Green territory.
But a slim hope arises. A special unit, a Green trooper, known only as Sarge, comes to the Green Nation’s aid and is able to stop the advance of the Tan army, while the Nation’s army is busy developing new technologies in order to stop the invasion cold. Now, Sarge faces a difficult task. He must reconquer what was rightfully the Green’s and put a stop to the Tan once and for all.
Desert Campaign:
The Desert operations starts with a raid on a Tan Munitions Depot.
After that, Sarge then has to nullify a Blue Spy before he can get his recon report back to the Tan.
His notes mentioning an Artifact
“Pick up artifact at Tan Fortress”
To find out more about the artifact, Sarge must save two soldiers who had information first.
Once they were rescued, they informed that a Radio Tower was an early warning system for that fortress. So Sarge must destroy the Radio Towers.
Then Sarge attacked the Tan Fortress because destroying the Radio Towers had left Tan ignorant of his presence.
After surviving the attack and getting the artifact, the only things between him and the next mission was one long bridge and a lot of Tan toypower.
At the end of this Desert Campaign, the Green Army was massing forces for an all out assault on the Tan of that area. Victory was assured when Sarge destroyed the bridge, so the Tan can not use it to bringing in reinforcements.
Alpine Campaign:
The Tan excavated a second artifact in the alpine region, in a mining camp close to train rails and a station. The area was well defended.
The Green Army sent some men on a mission to stop the Tan from transporting the second artifact out of the area (already called Key for that moment). Their chopper was shot down and most of the men were killed, but a few survived.
Sarge rescued the survivors. After that the Tan had a chopper to transport the Key out of the area.
Sarge destroyed the chopper to have time to get to the key, but later the Tan move it again using a Blue Spy to move the key away.
Sarge intercepted the Blue Spy near a lake. Later, near the end of the campaign, the Tan were trying to get the key out by train.
But Sarge destroyed the railway tunnels and get the key before the Tan train in the nearby Train Station.
In the end of this campaign Sarge rescued a few Green Army Men from a prison camp in the more cold Alpine region, near the Bayou region.
Bayou Campaign:
During the beginning of the campaign a nearby Gray weapon plant was taken over by the Tan. A Gray Colonel made a promise to the Green command that he will give them the last Key in exchange for their help.
But the Colonel was trapped in his Mansion, in the middle of a swamp area, and needed the help of Sarge to get him safely out of the area. The Tan even moved three tanks into the area to keep him in his Mansion.
Once the Colonel was safe, about to enter in the Half-Track that will extract him, he gave Sarge the third Key and information about its power. But the Colonel could get to the safe house because the road was blocked for vehicles. So Sarge and The Colonel proceed on foot, fighting his way across the Bridge leading to the location.
The Grey Colonel told to the Green Army the secret of the Keys. When put together, form a triangular device. The Keys open a Portal of unknown powers. The Portal is near a Cemetery at the end of a south road of a town.
It was a race against time: The Green Nation should known the secret before they Tan does.
When Sarge found out the Portal and entered the bright open door, he disappeared.
Sarge entered the Real World (called Big World during that time), and the 01/29/1998 the newspaper headlines detailed the portal and Sarge going MIA… until he found a way to escape.

Real behind the game facts:
Prepare for combat in an all-new 3D world where green and tan plastic soldiers have come to life!
Army Men is a real-time tactics and strategy video game. Released in 1998 for PC. Army Men 3D is a 3D reimagining of the classic Army Men made by 3DO. The game was released in 1999 for the PlayStation.
The plot is the exact same from the very first game, including the same ending, missions, and characters but its gameplay was changed to a fast-paced third person shooter without the squad mechanics.
It was intended to have the same missions and content, but had to be considerably shortened due to technical and development time issues. Since the game ultimately wouldn’t be exactly the same, some things were changed in the final version to highlight the 3D environments and fast gameplay. It was intended to be a simpler and faster game for a gaming audience of that type.
The game was a commercial success, leading to the development of the Army Men: World War series.

This looks like a hoax. This “Mysterious fourth key” in the two player lever “Clean Up This Mess” has no apparent use. To find it search the walls for a large closet door and enter. In the game, three keys are needed to open the portal in the last level.
