All toys, considered as a group
Much has changed since the Army Men discovered worlds beyond they own. They are now considered part of a large group called “Toykind”, using as a reference the etymology used by the extinct creators, “Humankind” to describe their race, humans (Human-Kind / Toy-Kind). Therefore everything that is considered a toy, is part of the Toykind. Unlike other groups, such as “living beings”, Real World lifeforms very different from toys.
Initially, Army Men believed that they and the Plastic World were the only ones, the center of their universe and that nothing more existed (except for some plastic animals, plastic trees, etc). But the discovery of the new worlds completely changed their paradigms, and together with other Toykind found in the other new worlds, they reached an agreement about how to classify themselves, a way of organizing, communicate and together investigating the mysteries of the universe.
Lifeforms
Living beings are the classification to which human beings also belong, the “carbon” beings.
A living being or living organism is a material set of complex organization, in which molecular communication systems intervene that relate it internally and to the environment in an exchange of matter and energy in an orderly way, having the ability to perform the functions basic of life that are nutrition, relationship and reproduction, so that living beings work for themselves without losing their structural level until their death.
The reproduction of living beings is also very interesting. They are not molded, but are born from other living beings, which “give birth” to another living being (or others) and after a while they die.
The matter that composes living beings is formed 95 % by four elements (bioelements) that are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen, from which biomolecules are formed
- Organic biomolecules or immediate principles: carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids.
- Inorganic biomolecules: water, mineral salts and gases.
These molecules are constantly repeated in all living beings, so the origin of life comes from a common predecessor, since it would be very unlikely that two living beings have appeared independently with the same organic molecules. Humans in their records found microfossils (very ancient remains) with an age of 3770-4280 million years, so life could have arisen on earth during the hadic age. Molecular watches also estimate it in the hadic.
All living beings are made up of cells. Inside these are the sequences of chemical reactions, catalyzed by enzymes, necessary for life. Something like a flamethrower interacting with a plastic soldier, changing it to a burned plastic pudle. In the same way, exchanges of matter and energy occur that cause constant changes that after some time make living beings die, but from their remains other new living beings are formed, in an endless cycle, such as the recycling of plastic in the Plastic World.
Human science that studied living beings was biology. Army Men science that studies the Toykind was Toyology.
Humans, like most living beings, since their creation, called “conception”, go through several stages of growth in size, intelligence and abilities. Among the most notable stages are infants, children, adolescents, adults and finally the elderly. The last resort is death, most of the time for no reason, except physical wear and tear due to cellular degradation. This last reason could have been in some way the cause of its extinction, since it is believed that this extremely rapid degradation is due to environmental causes. So the environment being the one that maybe changed and killed them all very quickly. Compared to Plastic, living tissue takes 100 years or less to wear out.
An interesting thing about the “fossils”, is that this remains of very old living beings, who die and lot of time later becomes something totally different, maintaining their original form, although of course, lifeless. This is very interesting and leaves the door open to the possibility of the Toykind having some ancestor in common with the Real World that passes through some kind of similar transformation, becoming an Army Men.
Far from these theories of an Army Men’s ancestor who was born of a living being is the theory of manufacturing, which is the most logical and considered by all of Toykind. This simply is that the toys themselves are of human manufacturing, manufactured and molded by them, originally as a collecting or entertainment product, lacking movement and life. From this, at some point and somehow, toys “woke up”, walked through their own means and evolved differently to the lifeless toys of humans. Beyond this, why of separate universes and other issues is still totally unknown.
