An action figure based on the mythical Army Men
Sergeant Hawk is an action figure based on Sarge Hawk, his Army Men namesake. Therefore it must be clear that this is not the same individual. The name is technically the same, except that the original Sarge Hawk does not usually use it completely and correctly, usually using only “Sarge Hawk”, “Sgt. Hawk”, “Hawk” or simply “Sarge” (which is very confusing with the original Sarge).

Behind the scenes:
As the military action figure market continued to expand in 2000, one entry stand out for not taking itself so seriously: Army Men from Playing Mantis.
This Hyper Action figure line, which was first unveiled at the San Diego Comic Con 2000 Summer, is based on the extremely popular series of video games from 3DO that first began with Army Men.
The first (and only) series featured Team Leader Sarge Hawk, Lovely Reporter-Soldier Vikki, Plastro (leader of the evil Tan army), Commander-in-Chief Colonel Grim, Mine Sweeper Hoover and Bazooka Specialist Riff. Each 7″ action figure has 10 points of articulation, and comes with weapons, accessories and a “dog tag”-stlyed display stand with a trading card.
Army Men action figures hit stores in February 2001.
