This was because 3DO tried to make <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/n64\/army-men-sarges-heroes\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"516\">Sarge&#8217;s Heroes<\/a> appeal to a much younger audience. This corner of the fandom say this killed what was essentially a more mature game (about Toy Plastic Soldiers), but also because 3DO gave <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/characters\/army-men-characters\/green-army-characters\/sarge\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"137\">Sarge<\/a> a name and made him a <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/characters\/army-men-characters\/green-army-characters\/hawk\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"26\">unique character<\/a> &#8211; whereas he had previously been depicted simply as a <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/characters\/army-men-characters\/green-army-characters\/sarge\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"137\">regular soldier<\/a> out there doing his job and felt this also drastically reduced the supposed realism of this series. These fans also cite this as the starting point of when the series began to spawn lower quality game after game in wake of <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/n64\/army-men-sarges-heroes\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"516\">Sarges Heroes<\/a>&#8216; unexpected success.<br \/><br \/>Unlike this small part of the fandom, there is a larger fandom for the <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/n64\/army-men-sarges-heroes\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"516\">Sarge&#8217;s Heroes<\/a> series that fondly look back at the game and <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/sony-ps2\/army-men-sarges-heroes-2\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"518\">its sequel<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/n64\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1307\">N64<\/a> version was the first to be released, from which the latest version came out, the <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/sega-dreamcast\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1308\">Dreamcast<\/a> version, being an <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/n64\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1307\">N64<\/a> port with graphic improvements. The second version was the <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/sony-ps1\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1306\">PS1<\/a> version, which is a game with a totally different engine, except for the story in general (similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/microsoft-windows\/army-men-pc\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"89\">Army Men<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/microsoft-windows\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1320\">PC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/sony-ps1\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1306\">PS1<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/armymen.com.ar\/website\/videogames\/sony-ps1\/army-men-3d\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"103\">Army Men 3D<\/a>).
