Bruise

Private Bruise, the first Violet Army Super Soldier

At the end of the first mission in Army Men: Red Alert, when Hawk enters the Tan base, he finds a G1 Army Men prisoner from the Violet Nation. He is severely injured. Hawk rescues him and asks him what he is doing there, and he tells him “The Tan have a time travel machine and we must stop them”.

This Violet plastic soldier takes him to his base in the Real World, and it is here where they tell Hawk that when the Portals and the other world, the giant world, appeared, the Violets -faced with the threat of total conquest or destruction by Plastro– decided to move to the Real World to hide and never be found. This is why they left a group of brave Violets to die in the Plastic World at the hands of the Tan Army, so that they would believe that they were finished off.

Therefore the Violets up to that point in history were barely mentioned as destroyed by Plastro.

He tells him all this because he has been a fan of Hawk for a long time, following the news of the Green Army, and knowing what happened to him in Sarge’s War, he thought he would trust him and give him a reason to keep fighting.

The Violet Army asks Hawk to represent them to start an alliance of total cooperation with the Greens. And he agrees to do so. At the same time and in exchange, as a sign of good faith, Hawk offers to turn the Violet soldier he rescued into a Super Soldier, who was badly injured and about to die. So they take him by helicopter to GAARD, within the Green Nation, and it is on this trip where they tell Hawk the rest of the whole story of the Violets.

When Hawk introduces himself, Green soldiers point at him, to the surprise of General Violet Lilac. At this point in the story we learn that Hawk has been AWOL for a while, and has gone out on his own to destroy the Tans. But he finally agrees to return to the military on the condition that he save Private Violet by transforming him into a Super Soldier. Reluctant to try, they end up accepting Hawk’s conditions since they needed him again. It is in this scene that we see how a Super Soldier is made.

So we see them dusting off the machinery that makes Super Soldiers at GAARD, making it clear that it’s an experimental process that’s been tried a few times. The dying soldier agrees to it, since he was doomed anyway.

The transformation happens… using what little was left of the Super Soldier serum, which Hawk had stored away all this time among his equipment. And out of the mold comes a totally different kind of Super Soldier, who was previously the dying G1 soldier. A character named Juliet called him Bruise, in honor to the injury color some injured animals in the Real World look when severely beaten (she s an expert in Real World animals, that helps them). The new Violet Super Soldier accepts.

After talks between the Greens and Violets begin, Hawk is tasked with investigating the matter that brings them here: the Tan’s time machine. The Violets assign Hawk a platoon of Violet G1 soldiers, along with Bruise and Juliet, a G1 female officer. This begins the events of Army Men: Red Alert.
