The soldier named “Sarge” shortly before Sarge Hawk (also called Sarge), currently KIA
“Call me Sarge. I use every one of these weapons, drive every vehicle, call in air support, and kill my day’s quota of Tans before you’re through brewing your morning tea in a flowery little pot and toasting your muffins. Without me, there’s no war, and there’s sure-as-spit no victory” – Sarge
Sarge was the ultimate commando. He was the only member of the Green Army able to obtain and use most of the weapons and devices found in the Toyverse battlefield. As good as he is, however, Sarge was not invincible. He and Sarge Hawk were killed by Major Malfunction.
Sergeant Green, aka “Sarge” was a Green Army veteran squad leader who was a “shoot first, ask questions later” kind of soldier.
Is the original protagonist of the first Army Men events recorded in history, and a soldier in service 50 years before that. In the Army Men first video recording of Sarge, he and a unnamed Green soldier are seen running from a trench.
Sarge is visually similar to a standard Green Nation soldier and had a sarcastic, bleak attitude. He leaded squads of Green soldiers in an attempt to defeat the Tan Republic during the early conflicts at the Plastic World.
Sarge was a no-nonsense soldier that was frequently sent out on missions to protect the Green Nation’s integrity and land from the Tan Republic’s ever increasing attempts at conquest.
He is skilled in handling all types of weapons, such as mortars, grenades, and flamethrowers, and can control most vehicles with ease as well.
Of all Green Army units, Sarge was one of the most important of his time. You could spot him by the three stripes (chevrons) in his helmet or in his shoulders.
Army Men: World War saga of events
“Do you accept the rank of Sergeant?”
“Yes, until i die or you find someone better”
– Col. Grimm to a Nameless soldier
The campaigns of World War, Land Sea Air and Final Front are the stories of Sarge’s career to became the legendary Sergeant he was later.

A soldier without a name, just like the rest, who ended up earning an unusual name: Sarge.
Diminutive of Sergeant in military jargon, this was acquired over time, based on what he was called in his squad, then his platoon and all the troops under his command that came after. Although there is really no record of how exactly this started.
Army Men events
“A pint of sweat will save a gallon of plastic” – Sarge
Sarge is sent out by the Green Nation to reclaim what was once Green territory and foil the Tan Republic’s nefarious schemes. After engaging in combat with the Tan through different areas, while the Green Nation develops new weapons to defend themselves against the new technology the Tan had developed constantly. He entered through a mysterious portal alone, and ended up in the Big World. He becomes stranded there for long enough that his disappearance was questioned through newspaper articles starting in the date 01/29/1998.

Cajun Joe’s mother letter
Sarge personally sent Gray Colonel’s mother a letter with the remains of his son, after he died. He fail to do it at first, but achieve it in the second. The reason Sarge have done this with a giant letter from Real World is unknown, but the meaning may be simply unknown by journalists.
Anyway this was a hoax and the Gray Colonel had not died. They needed to make everyone believe that this was so, until years later, Colonel Cajun Joe returned on the military stage. Originally it was a personal request from Joe to Sarge, to achieve his intention to retire. But years later, when Sarge returned to active duty, he returned the favor he owed, reappearing to inspire his nation.
Army Men II events
Immediately where Army Men events ended, Sarge reappears after his first trip to the Real World. He was ordered to make a full report on everything he saw. It is not known exactly how much time passed in between. The first records show that after some cosmetic changes to his attire, Sarge had entered the portal with a small team of Green soldiers, and was almost immediately assaulted by Tan soldiers. Hastily escaping from the kitchen he arrived at, he quickly reestablishes contact with Green Command, and was sent on numerous missions to disrupt more Tan schemes.
Sarge and his squad eventually run across Major Mylar and put an end to him, unaware that they were indirectly aiding General Plastro by eliminating the Major and stopping his rogue faction.
Army Men: Toys in Space events
“One small step for Toys, one giant leap for plastic soldiers.” – Sarge
Sarge’s first mission was to rescue hostages, and then destroy a secret Tan base. He comes across a UFO which had crashed earlier in a sandbox, and narrowly escapes a horde of Tan soldiers by retreating underneath that sandbox. It is there that he meets Tina Tomorrow, extraplastic leader of the Galactic Army, and assisted her in destroying local energy generators. Once finished, they destroy the remains of the UFO above them, and Tina leaves Sarge behind to return to her own world.
Later on, Sarge was in the Green capitol on patrol duty, when it is suddenly attacked by Tan and Alien forces. Struggling to hold off the threat, Sarge and his squad are able to rescue a portion of the population and escaped the doomed city, retreating through a Big World bathroom. Miraculously, they are able to secure the civilians and defend them against an overwhelming Tan counterattack during their retreat.
Tina suddenly returned to take Sarge to her own world, where the two work together to stop the Space Aliens. After they recover data regarding the whereabouts of the Alien Overlord, they assault the Space Aliens’ base. After heavy fighting, they manage to defeat the Alien Overlord and save not just Tina’s world, but also Sarge’s.
Toys in Space events aftermath
It is unknown what became of Sarge after Toys in Space events, as the actions of him and his men made virtually no impact on the Sarge’s Heroes events at all.
Furthermore, in Sarge’s Heroes events, portals are something that were just discovered. This is a direct conflict with the original Army Men events, which already heavily utilizes portals.
So there is some kind of major discrepancy in the historical records of the Greens, which beyond the theories that are circulating, will be very difficult to solve in the future, given that everyone who could have had that information are dead or missing.
The green government has probably hidden the portals of its nation to prevent the collective panic. The portals followed a resounding change in the understanding of reality in which Army men live, and this could have had a catastrophic effect on many levels. But luckily during the events of Sarge’s Heroes this did not happen, given the way this information was released, having SGT. Hawk and other heroes to inspire the population.

Facts
In every history event Sarge featured in, he has had the most HP out of any standard Green infantry; however, in Army Men II events, it was possible for plastic soldiers of his squad to actually surpass Sarge’s health if they lived long enough and gathered enough experience points, like the case of Scorch.
Archenemies
Unlike Sarge Hawk who often stood off with Plastro face to face, Sarge never even meet once the original version of the General during his events, though Plastro was typically observing Sarge’s actions from afar.
Feats of Valor
- The Battle of the Blocko-Man Fortress: When the Wooden Knights threatened to overrun the fortress, Sarge devised a daring plan. He assembled a catapult from rubber bands and paperclips, launching erasers across enemy lines. Victory was theirs, but Sarge remained humble.
- The Siege of the Stuffed Animals: Captain Fluffy, leader of the Stuffed Animals, sought dominion over the Pillow Peaks. Sarge negotiated a truce, convincing Fluffy that shared snuggle time was more rewarding than territorial squabbles.
- The Puzzle Piece Prophecy: Ancient jigsaw fragments spoke of a hero who could unite Plastica’s disparate factions. Sarge puzzled over
the riddles, connecting the dots (quite literally). His solution? Cooperation, not conquest.
An inglorious ending
Sarge career ended abruptly after more than 50 years of service. He disappeared and was considered MIA by the media, without comments from the Green army, which denied all information requested. But after so many years everyone thought he was dead.
Hawk emerged from nowhere to take his place and role in the Green army, even being called “Sarge” most of the time (something offensive to a conservative corner of society). And to go even further, Sarge Hawk was one of the greatest Green heroes of all times, surpassing Sarge achievements faster. But Hawk was the best product of the G1 Super Soldier program, which made him, since molding, a better soldier.
So maybe after TIS Sarge turned to be a secret agent, acting on classified missions only, to the point that even himself invented that he was dead, or the Green Army did it on purpose so that no one would know that he was operating undercover. There are many theories circulating, and was an cloudy time for the truth, given the lack of better recording technology. But again, there is no one left alive who can shed light on the matter.
Some theories even suggested that Sarge Hawk was originally Sarge, since the first Super Soldier program was actually an improvement and rehabilitation of soldiers who were knocked out of combat. However in a series of events, around and during the events of Major Malfunction Sarge returned to service, or at least to the public eye. Little is known about how exactly these events unfolded, but it appears that Sarge ultimately died at the hands of the nefarious Major Malfunction. And this time for good, with a clear recording and multiple witnesses.
Sarge was or wasn’t Sarge Hawk?: the propaganda evil plan
The circumstances of Sarge’s disappearance, although it was only for some time, are unknown and will probably never be known as there is no one who can shed light on the matter. But apparently whatever happened was a problem for the Green Army and their propaganda apparatus, which relied heavily on Sarge. It was for this reason that the appearance of Super Soldier Hawk suited them like a glove.
Although, again, no one can confirm it, it is a fact that the Green Army used the figure of Hawk to make everyone believe that it was Sarge, simply using the diminutive of his rank, Sarge, to refer to him, without ever having clarified that it was not It was the same individual. In this way, everyone who had never paid attention to the news or Sarge’s appearance, and then Hawk, or anyone who did not start to interpret these signals, believed that it was the same plastic soldier. It was even used on the propaganda cover of Sarge’s past campaigns!, when Hawk didn’t exist yet!, among other instruments such as rarely showing his face clearly.
All this changed over time, especially when they began to call him Hawk and when he began to show himself more clearly in films. But even so many people still thought that this Sarge Hawk had been the Sarge of the past, only he was simply called “Sarge“. But although the Green Army propaganda machine clearly tried to make this change as smooth as possible without anyone trying to interpret the truth, in the end it didn’t matter: Sarge Hawk had won the favor of even more plastic people thanks to his heroic charisma and good looks. Hawk’s popularity fever was stronger than it was with Sarge, as it was also a period of better technology for the media, which reached places they had not reached before, including full color filming and other worlds beyond the Plastic World…
Only a small portion of the population began to question “Where is Sarge? What happened to him?” But just when this movement began to gain strength… Sarge reappeared. This time to die, which had little impact on society as it was more distracted by the death of, almost immediately after him, Sarge Hawk.
Only time did its things and corrected the history books, to give Sarge the recognition that deserves, although he looks like just another unfortunate soldier. But ironically, who cares about history and the heroes of the past, today, anyway?… practically NO ONE.
The Legend of Sarge
“Sarge, the enigmatic figure whispered in the ancient toy scrolls—the one destined to tip the delicate balance of the Sustainable War. Sarge, clad in olive green, stands apart. His body bears scratches from countless battles, and his plastic boots have trudged through the G-Day beach and the Black Forest alike. But is he truly the chosen one?”
The fact that Sarge had been an ordinary soldier who survived for so many years, who gained more and more experience, achievements and decorations, all this while still being a leader who stayed on the same level as his men, spending time with his troops as if was one more of them, was a source of inspiration and the example to follow for all the plastic soldiers of his generation. But after 50 years it was logical that this could take messianic proportions… to the point that some people of the Green Nation began to think that Sarge was something more than an ordinary plastic soldier. Something that was then suddenly grounded when he died without pain or glory, just like a common soldier, a meaningless death in Major Malfunction events.
Origins of the legend
“Long ago, when the Toymaker’s hands shaped the first toy soldiers, a cosmic hiccup occurred. A stray spark of imagination infused Sarge with something more—a glimmer of purpose beyond mere play the game of war. His eyes held the wisdom of ages, and his heart beat to the rhythm of Plastica itself” – Ancient Toy Scrolls
When the Ancient Toy Scrolls were found not only in the Plastic World, but in the Prehistoric World, the Medieval World and among others, many believers of legends began to interpret these writings in their own way and understood some simple coincidences as “signs of destiny.” . These idealists and cultists began to add more and more believers to their ranks, and even reached the Green militia. The Green government allowed this gossip because they believed that praising the figure of Sarge would serve a higher propaganda purpose that they would take advantage of to continue maintaining the nation’s interest in supporting the war and thus obtain more plastic bonds and soldiers more willing to fight, inspired in the figure of Sarge.
Great personalities and members of the high ranks really believed in these inventions and openly pointed to Sarge as “the chosen one.” However, even though this nonsense was unfounded, it was a powerful instrument for war propaganda, something that no one can deny today.
Doubts and Whispers
“Yet, doubts linger. Some say Sarge’s plastic heart harbors secrets. Is he truly selfless, or does ambition gnaw at him?. The discarded Action Figure, jealous and forgotten, mutters, “He seeks power, not balance.” – Ancient Toy Scrolls
The Final Quest
“And so, Sarge embarks on the Final Quest—a journey to the Slinky Serpent’s lair. There, he’ll uncoil the serpent, unraveling time itself. The Play-Clay Portal awaits, its swirling colors promising answers.
But beware! The path is treacherous. The Silly Putty Swamps shift, and the Etch-a-Sketch Mountains erase memories. Sarge must confront his inner turmoil: Is he a toy or a hero?” – Ancient Toy Scrolls
Conclusion
Whether Sarge fulfills the prophecy or becomes a cautionary tale…
“Plastica watches. The Sustainable War hinges on his choices—the delicate balance teetering. So next time you see a toy soldier, perhaps it’s not just plastic; perhaps it’s destiny in disguise.
And as the sun sets over the Crayon Hills, Sarge gazes toward the horizon, wondering if he’ll find answers”
…or merely more questions
Ending of the legend
Even when Sarge disappeared for a few years, many continued to believe in these interpretations of legends and waited for him to return. Others abandoned and a good portion of them even pointed to Hawk as their successor and the true chosen one, especially when the Green Army did not clarify that Sarge and Hawk were different Army Men (something they also used for propaganda purposes).
However, all this ended abruptly with the public reappearance and death of Sarge at the hands of Major Malfunction, who almost at the same time killed Sarge Hawk.
