Hoover

A Coward, but the best minesweeper ever

This Bravo Company Commando may be a gawky, geeky-looking beanpole with more ribs showing than a 4th of July barbecue and an Adam’s apple you could hang a helmet liner on, but the squad depends on him nevertheless. His depth of concentration and smooth fluidity of movement made him a natural to either man a minesweeper or run a floor buffer. He chose the minesweeper since the squad didn’t need a janitor.

The timid minesweeper of Bravo Commandos

Hoover is a rather cowardly soldier and does not take combat as seriously as the rest of the company does. He is usually in the back, quivering in his boots, and will refuse to come out, until the coast is clear before he does his job. He only is in the front if his duties demand it; namely clearing out mine fields.

Despite his shaky behavior, Hoover is has unflailing loyalty to Bravo Company. Sarge and the other members do not seem to be aware of his flaws, or choose to overlook them, probably out of desire to act as a team. It was said that while he is nerdy, there have been multiple occasions the survival of all of Bravo Company was dependent on him.

His natural reflexes, and sensitivity to danger made him a natural minesweeper. It was said he could handle the minesweeping device as smoothly as a floor buffer. Hoover went to minesweeping school because Bravo Company did not need a janitor.

Despite being a mere private, Hoover was summoned and accepted, probably by forcinghim to accept. This soldier would never aspire to rise in rank and his cowardice should make him a candidate for discharge from the army. But this is one of those rare cases that will be remembered in history where the unique qualities of this soldier merited having him among the Commandos.

Some time before Sarge’s Heroes 2, Hoover and the rest of the Bravo Company Commandos changed their appearance substantially (although some did not notice). Everyone except Sgt. Hawk.

Theories and gossip say that this was because they underwent the Super Soldier 2.0 experiment to try to fix their serious attitudinal and mental flaws. But this does not seem to be true, since after this change the particularities of the Bravo Commandos only became more accentuated. Hoover was one of those who suffered the smallest visual changes.

Sarge’s War

Sarge and the Heroes for a last time

Hoover was at the peace ceremony in Greentown when Lord Malice’s terrorist attack took place. He died along the rest of the Bravo Company Commandos.

His name may be a play on Hoover vacuum cleaners. He also shares his name with the human Herbert Clark Hoover, who served as the 31st President of the United States.
