Balanced War

The Sustainable War: A Toy Soldier Saga

The intriguing concept of “Sustainable War” from the Army Men reality is a theoretical situation where toy plastic soldiers that come to life engage in a perpetual conflict that remains in balance. In the past Tan and Green have adjusted their economies not only to meet the demands of prolonged war, but to thrive from it. Over the years, the war has stabilized to the extent that all sides can benefit from it with “acceptable” casualties. This uncommon situation was called “Balanced War”.

Introduction

In the whimsical realm of Plastic World, where imagination knows no bounds, a peculiar phenomenon unfolds: a war unlike any other. The inhabitants of this miniature world are not flesh and blood but molded plastic, animated by some cosmic force (in theory). These toy soldiers, once mere playthings from the Human World, now march to the rhythm of destiny: War.

Origins of the Conflict

Legends say the Sustainable War emerged eons ago when the Great Toymaker breathed life into his creations. These tiny warriors, clad in vibrant hues, sprang forth with purpose. Their mission: to wage a perpetual battle for the equilibrium in the Plastic World. But what fuels this conflict?… nobody knows. There are prophecies found in ancient texts from the Plastic World that say that war is nothing more than a training ground for the best warriors to excel and thus the Army Men race prepares to face a mythical great common enemy. But of course, this doesn’t make any sense considering the constant wave of death all this time.

The Balancing Act

  1. Resource Allocation: The toy soldiers draw sustenance from the very plastic they’re made of. Each skirmish replenishes their energy, but over-consumption weakens their forms. Thus, they fight strategically, knowing that excess aggression could tip the scales unfavorably.
  2. Terrain Control: The battlefield—a sprawling playroom—shifts daily. The Army Men vie for control over key locations like the Blocko-man Fortress, the Mr. Taylor’s Toy Store, the Black Forest, and the Crayon Hills. Victory grants them temporary dominion, but they must relinquish it eventually to maintain equilibrium.
  3. Seasonal Cycles: The Plastic World experiences toy seasons: the Playtime Spring, the Sandbox Summer, the Puzzle Autumn, and the Snow Globe Winter. Each season influences the soldiers’ abilities. During Spring, they rejuvenate; in Summer, they’re bolder; Autumn grants camouflage; and Winter freezes their foes. This changes the pace of the war, slowing down some aspects, accelerating others, such as how to take advantage of the cold stage and the enemy’s disadvantage during that stage.
  4. Recycling Resource: The Army Men not only recycle the plastic they find or refine the Real World oil. They also recycle themselves.
A reality of the Plastic World, culturally accepted as something normal, is that all plastic can give new life. Therefore even the remains of other soldiers killed on the battlefield serve to reforge them as a new Army Men.

Balancing Commanders and Alliances

  1. General Rubbertop: A venerable teddy bear with stitched eyes, he leads the Plastic Armies in specific Real World zones. His wisdom guides their actions, ensuring no faction oversteps.
  2. Captain Jigsaw: A puzzle piece with a penchant for strategy. He sometimes forms alliances with the Wooden Knights and the Stuffed Animals, seeking to impart harmony in the Army Men using their brutal force.
  3. Sgt. Juliet: Leading the Violet Army, Juliet is in charge of controlling that the other nations do not exploit the animals of the Real World and other forms of life that can be used as weapons, so that the balance in the conflict is never broken again through the use of Super Weapons.
  4. Colonel Crayonella: A fierce crayon warrior, she commands the Color Brigade of the Rainbow Army. Her troops wield hues as weapons, creating rainbows or blinding foes. They make those with camouflage advantage visible, blocking their ability to hide. Example: staining wooded areas with colors where the Green Army hides its bases so that they cannot be seen from the air. But don’t worry, the colors they use are biodegradable, made with natural ingredients.

The Eternal Battle

The Balanced War rages on, year after year. Battles are fought with plastic guns, firecrackers, fireworks, rubber band catapults, paperclip swords, cutter swords, magnifying glasses and cotton ball cannons. More casualties than new molded soldiers are rare; but instead, sometimes defeated soldiers return to their original form—lifeless plastrified toys—until the next dawn… or today, until the next ally revive them with anti-plastrification serum.

The Prophecy

Ancient texts speak of a prophecy: When the Slinky Serpent uncoils and the Ancient Portal opens, a chosen soldier will restore balance permanently. But who is this fabled hero? Perhaps the forgotten Sarge or a discontinued outsider Action Figure?

Conclusion

“In Plastic War, the Sustainable War endures: a delicate dance of conflict and conservation. As long as war is considered a mere game, the toy soldiers fight, teaching that even in war, balance is paramount. So next time you step on a stray Plastic Soldier, remember: somewhere, a tiny soldier marches on, ensuring equilibrium in their bellicose world.”
